Species: Burmese Pythons

Name: Cleopatra, Tiny, and Amarillo

Distribution: Burmese Pythons can be found throughout Southeast Asia including Burma, Thailand, China, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

Size: As one of the largest snakes in the world they can reach up to 23 feet in length and weigh up to 200 lbs. Females are typically larger than males.

Food: The larger pythons can eat pigs and goats. Whereas the smaller pythons will eat birds and small mammals.

Habitat: Burmese Pythons are excellent swimmers and they need a permanent source of water. They can be found in swamps, marshes, grasslands, rocky foothills, woodlands, jungles with open clearings and river valleys.

Tidbit: A python's finest sense is in it's olfaction. Pythons are able to smell with the aid of the Jacobson's organ in the roof of the mouth. They dart their tongues in and out of their mouths to obtain gases from the air. The tongue brings in small particles to this organ. Therefore, the python can catch their prey in light or dark conditions.
