Name: Limpopo & Kenya

Status: Servals are currently on the Endangered List.

Distribution: The serval is common in West and East Africa, but it is extinct in the South African Cape Province and very rare north of the Sahara.

Size: The Body length of the Serval is about 34 in. with the tail being about 16 in. long. They generally weigh between 20-44 lbs.

Food: The Servals diet consists of smaller animals such as rodents, hares, birds, reptiles, insects, fish, frogs, and ocassionally small antelopes.

Habitat: Their main habitat is the savannah, although melanistic individuals usually seek out mountainous areas. Wherever they reside they must have watercourses in their territory.

Tidbit: While hunting the Serval will pause up to 15 minutes with it's eyes closed and ears up. It's hearing is so good it can even hear rodents burrowing underground.

Lifespan: Servals generally live up to 20 years in the wild (up to 25 in captivity).
